Ed Charlton

I write innovative science fiction in the old-fashioned way with stories of humans meeting aliens.
Do I describe the details of faster-than-light engines? Only if the story demands it. Do I describe what a character has for lunch? Only if it helps my readers understand her. Do I teach you to swear in alien languages? Absolutely, whenever I can!
I grew up in England and was part of the original target demographic for Doctor Who, long before society realized the effect of sci-fi on the young. As an adult, I’ve acquired a reputation for asking, in the middle of long BBC dramas, “When do the aliens land?”
